Grace
1 John 1:9 ESV
“If we confess our sins, He (Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
What if we only had one chance in life to make things right with God? What if we were given the opportunity, at the age of accountability, which many think is about 13, where we could make conscious decisions? Such as choosing to turn our lives over to God or reject Him and that was the final decision. That wouldn’t seem fair at all would it?
Well, this passage says if we confess our sins, He (Jesus) is faithful and just. We know He is faithful, and we know He is more than fair, and whenever and wherever we ask Him to forgive us He does and cleanses us as if we had never ever sinned. Then we are justified, just as if we had never sinned. Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
That means we don’t have to wonder if we are right with God, we do not have to pay for our sins. We cannot earn our salvation, it is free through Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. We trade sin for forgiveness, acceptance, love, mercy, grace, and peace.
Prayer:
Thank You Jesus, the longer we serve You the more we love You. We know we cannot earn salvation, we know we can never be good enough, we know we can never obey all the laws of God. So, we will just stick with Grace. Keep us in Your loving arms, Amen!
