Fellowship

Acts 2: 42-44
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common.”

At this point of the Pentecostal account, the Holy Spirit had fallen on a group of about 120 people gathered in an upper room. From there Peter stands up and delivers a message of hope which we call the Gospel. Peter tells this crowd of thousands that through Jesus Christ they can find a new life, a new purpose, and perhaps a new identity in Jesus the Christ.

What were the results? Thousands came to know Jesus on that one afternoon and the New Testament church was on its way. After Pentecost, the New Testament church began its work.

The first order of business was to bring everyone together in fellowship and prayer. That is a great place to start, with a new objective, “being about our Father’s business,” as Jesus said as a child.

After that, what were the results? They came together as one and started this fellowship. There was teaching, love, a sense of community, eating, serving together, and receiving from God.

After that, what were the results? Miracles, people finding hope, deliverance, peace. People coming to Jesus in record numbers. After that, what were the results? The Gospel spread through the world, and it is still going out all over the world today.

What’s the message? Fellowship, share, love, and give the Gospel freely to all and lives will be changed.

Prayer:
Jesus, use me for Your glory to touch lives for You. That people will find hope, peace, joy, love and a new pattern of living through You. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
