Just Watch God

Exodus 14:10, 13-14 ESV
“When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the Lord.

And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.  The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

Listen to the eyewitness account of the before the miracle. Fear was on every face, two million people were in fear except Moses, and probably Joshua and Caleb. This fear led to much complaining (verses 11 and 12). Moses’s instructions were to “fear not,” and to “stand firm” and the results would be, they would never see these hooligans from Egypt ever again after that night.

One of the best commands of the evening was, “Shut your cotton picken mouths.” (Johnie’s translation) Moses told them that God would fight for them.

How many times do we see what looks like shear demise? Why can’t we just fear not, stand firm, allow God to do a miracle, shut our cotton picken mouths and let God fight our battles? Well, we are a work in progress. Hopefully we can learn a lesson from the night of the parting of the Red Sea.

Prayer:
Father God, help us to stand. When we cannot do anything else just help us to stand clothed with the full armor of God. Cast away the fear from our eyes, let us fall silent before You, and let us see the reward of the wicked. Help us to recognize Your salvation that You provide for Your children. In Your precious name Father God, Amen!
