The promises of God

2 Peter 1:4
“…He has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”

1) What are these promises that Jesus promised? Complete forgiveness and Eternal life

Psalm 23:6, “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life…”

John 6:37 “All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.”

Matthew 11:28-29
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

That is just a short list, but there are many many more in God’s Word.

2) Why all these promises of God?

So we can share in His divine nature. His divine nature is the spiritual attributes of God, the righteous character of God and the supernatural possibilities of God.

Possessing His divine nature, will assist us to work in kind with God’s nature. We cannot posses His supernatural possibilities without possessing His other vast qualities and characteristics.

Lord, I want all Your promises, I want Your nature to be in and flow through me. I want to have Your characteristics living inside of me. I want ALL that You have for me!
