Happy New Year
Isaiah 61:7 AMP
“Instead of your [former] shame you will have a double portion; And instead of humiliation your people will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore in their land they will possess double [what they had forfeited]; Everlasting joy will be theirs.”
If I have learned anything in life, new year resolutions typically do not work. Trying to create situations and scenarios in our lives that benefit us, typically are temporary at best. Receiving what God has for us in the new year does work, God’s solutions are everlasting. To receive them takes faith, trust and knowledge of God’s promises and the ability to expect from God.
This truth found in Isaiah 61:7 speaks of receiving from the Lord in the year of favor. Jesus read this scripture in the Temple and said He would fulfill these promises. Instead of what we deserve for mistakes, which is typically shame, He will give us a double portion or an abundant reward.
Israel sinned greatly, so after their time of seperation and sorrows, He promised an abundant reward. Only God does forgiveness and blessings like that. Of all that we have lost because of life; hard times, sorrows, loss of loved ones Jesus will give us a double portion of everlasting joy. Plus, He will provide for our needs, more than just enough, He promises double of what we deserve.
Prayer:
Father, for everyone who receives these words of promise, I pray for peace, joy, comfort, prosperity and fulfillment in this new year!
