Do Not Lose Heart
2 Corinthians 4:16-17 ESV
“We do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison…”
Losing heart is similar to losing hope. But no matter how things appear, there is always hope in Jesus. Most of us, who have a few years on us, feel like we are falling apart. Knees hurt, feet hurt, our eyes are growing dim, and we don’t hear like we used to. Our backs hurt, and the list goes on and on. But as our bodies may be fading, we should be renewing the inner man (woman) day by day.
Paul said, “for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:8)
Besides failing bodies, each of us, at specific points will be tested, tried, and perhaps even tempted to give up, our enemy wants us to fail. We cannot lose heart but press on because when we are weak, He (Jesus) is strong in us. (2 Corinthians 12:10)
Prayer:
Lord, You lived this life, You suffered immensely, You over came ever test? Every trial and You never sinned. Live through me to make me more than a conquerer.
