Glorifying God

Mathew 5:14-16 ESV

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

We should live our lives in such a way that our good deeds are evident to others, drawing people to recognize God’s presence and goodness, and giving glory to God. Doing nothing to bring attention to ourselves but instead bringing all the glory to God who made us. Our truth, hope, faith and love should be seen through our actions, as the glory all belongs to God.

Jesus said, “Let your light shine”, this refers to living a life that is an example of Jesus in us. Our actions and way of life should be observed by those in the faith and by those outside the faith. Our actions, words and deeds should reveal Jesus. Our words, deeds, actions and testimonies should direct people’s attention to God, leading them to honor and praise Him and come to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our lives should be a beacon for Jesus to show who we really are by our actions and reactions. So, to glorify God, we let our light (words, deeds, actions and reactions) reflect His glory to the world so that they will come to know Him.

Prayer:

Lord, shine through us today and every day. Let our lives reflect Your glory. Let our words, deeds, actions and reactions, shout a loud that Jesus lives in us. We want to reflect Your glory so that those around us will turn to You. In Your name we light up the world today. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
