In My name

John 16:24 ESV

“Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

Before this point, mankind had to go to a priest to talk to God, Jesus removed that veil when He died (the veil of the Holy of Holies was ripped down the middle, top to bottom, at His death, supernaturally). Now, through Jesus, we can approach the Father directly because Jesus is our mediator. (1 Timothy 2:5-6) Asking in Jesus’s name is a recognition of Jesus’ authority and a desire to see God’s will accomplished in our lives. Jesus opened up the way for our Father to son or daughter relationship at His death. Asking in Jesus name brings glory to Jesus, to the Father and to the Holy Spirit. This brings us joy because we have a relationship with the almighty God that can never be broken, never be taken away by our actions or anyone else’s actions. We receive glory (fulfillment of joy) when we ask in Jesus’s name.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for making a way back to the Father through Your sacrifice and death. Thank You for making us acceptable to approach the throne of God, in Your name, by Your authority. I ask in Your name Jesus that today, Your kingdom would come in us and our families and friends, that Your will, will be done on earth today in us as it is in heaven. Heal the sick, encourage the weak, bring hope to those who feel hopeless. Amen!
