Honoring God
Deuteronomy 10:12 ESV
“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul…”
Moses is giving specific instructions to the children of Israel. He tells them that they are to have a reverential fear of the Holy God and that in fearing Him, that they should walk in His ways and do what He requires. Moses says that they are to love God with all of their heart and all of their soul. To love God in this way, we do not treat Him as a casual friend, we honor Him with our lives.
When I was young, the way I acted reflected on my parents. When I was older and married, my actions and words reflected my wife, our home, our standards and even my relationship with God. As natural children, brothers or sisters, or spouses and parents, we carry the responsibility to bring honor to the family.
So it is with God; if we declare that God is everything to us, the fruit that we bear will bring glory to God and people will see our love and devotion to God. Perhaps our devotion will bring others to Jesus.
Prayer:
Lord, I bear the responsibility of reflecting Your glory. When I call myself a Christian, people see my actions and hear my words and it is a reflection on You. I pray that my words and deeds always reflect You in a positive light. In Your name Lord Jesus we pray, Amen!
