Blessed

Matthew 5:4 ESV

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

This does not refer to looking like gloom and despair. Growing up in my church as a child was sad. The adults that came into the church Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings came in looking serious and somber. That IS NOT what Jesus intended in this passage.

Jesus is saying, for those who feel the oppression of sin, take heart, in repentance we will find joy, we will be comforted and forgiveness.

He is also saying, for those who are feeling the pressures of life and the reality of short comings, be blessed and comforted, trust in Him and He will provide exactly what we need, when we need it.

Prayer:

Lord, You are our sufficiency, You are our all in all. Forgive us for our sins and bring us into Your righteousness. For the pressures of this life Lord, we trust in You. Provide for our needs according to Your riches in glory. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
