Meek is NOT Being Weak

Matthew 5:5 ESV

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

First of all, let me say, meek is not being weak. Meekness, from a Christian perspective, is about faith. It is about trusting God to win the battle, instead of going to extremes to win the battle on our own terms. It is our strength under control, rather than “our strength seeking control.

This is exactly backwards from the world’s common understanding. Most believe the world to be controlled by those strong and ambitious enough to take what they want. That is not the concept of the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven.

True meekness takes courage; we must fight with ourselves to trust God’s plan and His character and His timing. It’s hard to be humble and patient when we see things from the natural. Then let’s stop looking at the natural and look at the spiritual desires of our Lord in our lives.

Prayer:

Lord, meekness is not a strong suit in many today, but You still say that those who will come to meekness will inherit all that You have for us. If it takes us becoming self-abased to win in this life and the life to come, so be it Lord. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
