What Leads to Us Being Constant, Firm, and Committed

James 1:2-4 ESV

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Hopefully, we all want to be people who are firm in our beliefs, committed to the cause of Christ, and constant in our walk with our Lord. To be those things, there may be some uncomfortable times where our faith is tested. We are all trying to reach the goal of being complete in Jesus, to be firm in our walk, and lacking nothing. To get there, there will be times of testing of our faith. When those times come, and we become stronger and wiser, we become more complete, and as James said, steadfast in our faith.

When we started our jobs or careers, we had to be trained. When we made it past the training, even if it was tedious, we kept moving forward. Then we had to progress in our jobs to get raises and bonuses. The same principle applies; trials come in our walk with Christ; we know that. We endure; we press on until we reach the place where we can catch a breath. Then we move on to know Jesus more and His will for our lives.

Prayer:

Lord, to be like You is what I’m asking for this morning. If it means that I need to go through testing and trials, so be it. The joy that I feel is not because of the trial, but because I know that I am getting stronger and closer to You. In Your Precious name, Lord Jesus, I pray, Amen!
