Freedom

Psalms 119:45 NIV

“I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.”

God’s words are liberating because they provide truth that frees us from the bondage of sin, fear, lies, and spiritual darkness. It offers wisdom for life’s challenges. His words renews the mind, and brings comfort and healing. Through the Gospels the scriptures bring freedom from condemnation, guilt, and the pressure to meet worldly standards.

For me, God’s words are a breath of fresh air. Most of the time when I go to God’s word, I do not know exactly what I will glean from my time searching the scriptures, but  there is always a message that I take away with me. Even though I have read certain passages many times before, today is a new dawning and a new awareness in God’s words. God always brings out what I need when I search the scriptures. God knows when we are just reading to read, and He also knows when we are reading to understand. When we read just to read, at times the words will just gloss over, and we forget what we have read. When we read to understand, He will bring things out fresh, anew, and clear if we look deeply into His words.

Prayer:

Lord, I pray this morning that everyone, when they sit down to read and to understand Your words, that they will receive what You have for them today. In Your name, Lord Jesus, I ask, Amen!
