Omnipresence of God
Matthew 18:20 ESV
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
This passage emphasizes no matter where we are, if we are gathering to praise, honor and learn from Jesus, He is there with us. If He is there with us, He is also in thousands of other places with other worshipers. This verse assures us that our collective praise, worship, and time together in the name of the Lord is empowered by His presence.
Psalms 139:7-10 says, “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.” This describes the omnipresence of God. David described God’s omnipresence as being a source of comfort and love that no matter where he was at, God was there with him. Knowing that God is everywhere at all times is mind boggling but comforting. I know that He is with me and my wife, and at the same time I know He is with all of you as well.
Prayer:
Lord, I echo the words of Paul when he said in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love (and presence) of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” In Your name Lord we worship You, Amen!
