Omnipotent
Psalms 135:5-6,13
“For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.Whatever the Lord pleases, He does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps. He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth, who makes lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses. Your name, O Lord, endures forever, Your renown, O Lord, throughout all ages.”
The omnipotence of God means that God is all-powerful and can do anything, this is understood within the context of His divine nature and will. Genesis 1 describes God speaking the universe into existence, showing His power to create something from nothing. Exodus 14 describes God’s power over nature by parting the Red Sea and in Joshua 3 when God parted the Jordan River so Israel could cross into the promised land. One miracle was to leave oppression, one to enter God’s provision into the promised land. His Spiritual power which includes defeating Satan through His Son and providing salvation to believers. We see His great power over death by raising His Son from the dead, which all who believe in the Son and follow after Him receive eternal life.
Prayer:
God, You are great and greatly to be praised. Your power is unlimited, yet You come and live in all who believe and trust in You. You gave us free will, but You still watch over us as we find our way. You are truly omnipotent. We praise You Father. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen!
