Life’s Twists and Turns
Daniel 6:20b-22
The king declared to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also, before you, O king, I have done no harm.”
As the story goes, jealousy came into Daniel’s opponents, and they were able to secure a decree by trickery no one could worship anyone but the king. Daniel continued to worship his God openly. The penalty was to have him condemned to death in the lion’s den. It broke the heart of the king, but he could not deliver Daniel. Broken hearted the King could not sleep all night and at daybreak the king ran to the lion’s den and cried out to Daniel to see if he was alive. God had delivered Daniel.
Sometimes we feel like we are in the lion’s den. Troubles come to us or our children, and we have anguish of our spirits. At that moment, go to God and worship and praise Him, give Him glory and honor even when our hearts are broken, because His heart is broken for us. God will deliver, God will honor our praise and thankfulness.
Prayer:
Lord, when our heart is merry, we worship you. When our hearts are heavy, we worship You and give You thanks. Knowing You will deliver. It is not often in a way that we expect, but that is the beauty of serving You, You know what we need better than we do. In Your name Lord Jesus we thank You, Amen!
