Jesus Suffered to Set Us Free

Isaiah 53:5 ESV

“But He (Jesus) was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are (spiritually) healed.

Jesus’s suffering and death were a direct results of all humanities sins, from Adam until the time that the world comes to an end. His intense suffering was for our sinfulness. The punishment that Jesus experienced was our punishment that we deserved for our sins, Jesus did not deserve the punishment, He did no wrong. Jesus, wanting to reunite mankind back to God suffered and died that we could be at peace, and one day we will be with Him forever. The healing spoken about in this passage is a spiritual and relational healing. Jesus’s suffering provides a clean conscience and restored relationship with God; all this was freely given to us by the punishment that Jesus received but He did not deserve.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for Your great love. Thank You for seeing us in our sin and extending forgiveness to us even though it cost You Your life. Thank You for bringing us into a right relationship with Father God. Thank You for Your healing. In Your precious name our Lord and Savior, Amen!
