Watching for the Lord
Lamentations 3:25-26 (ESV)
“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
Waiting on the Lord shows that we trust Him. When we get irritated and angry when waiting for answers, or for things to move in our lives, it shows that we are dissatisfied and we want things to move on our timetable. God has perfect timing. I know that we think it would be better to happen now, but I assure you God has a reason for allowing things to be delayed in our lives. Besides having the perfect will for God in our lives, Jeremiah says that God is good to us when we wait on Him. Now as far as I’m concerned God is good to me when I’m impatient and when I am patient. I know He is teaching me to trust Him when I am waiting. Jeremiah is telling Israel times may seem harsh, times may seem to be passing by in snail mode, but when we wait quietly and patiently for God He will save or rescue and deliver us, sometimes from ourselves, sometimes from the enemy. In Israel’s case, He was teaching them to trust Him more.
Prayer:
Lord, waiting is hard, but You know that full well, You lived life on this earth and had Your share of waiting. I can’t imagine seeing man kind from heaven and then coming to this earth to live with mankind and see how they operate firsthand. Be patient with us Lord, we are still learning to walk with You. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
