Reaping

Galatians 6:7 AMP

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not allow Himself to be ridiculed, nor treated with contempt nor allow His precepts to be scornfully set aside]; for whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap.”

My Mother quoted this verse to me often as a boy “You will reap what you so.” She meant it for correction, because I had done something foolish as a boy. I understood the laws of sowing and reaping on the farm as a boy, so I knew well the concept.

I would caution everyone that yes, we will reap what we sow and if it is foolishness, that is what we will reap. However, if it is good that we sow, that good is what we will reap. If we sow kindness, we will reap kindness. If we sow mercy, we will reap mercy. If we sow favor, we will reap favor. If we sow righteousness, we will reap righteousness. For whatever we sow, that is what we will reap.

Prayer:

Lord, all my life I have reaped what I have sowed. Sometimes, that was not a good thing, but the concept was understood. Help us today to understand the repercussion of our actions and words today. We will reap what we have sown, not by our estimation, but by Your estimation. In Your name, Lord Jesus, we pray, amen.
