Blessings Follow Seeking

Psalms 119:2 ESV

“Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart…”

I have an acquaintance that tries to please everyone in his business, but it often fails to get the results he is looking for. In his business he may be appeasing a few customers by limited attention, but for the majority, he is just pacifying them. Most people do not like to be pacified. Getting him to give his customers prime effort is difficult. I pray he sees what we all see; part time effort is not good enough.

The Psalmist  knows what pleases God and how to honor God. It is deep searches into scripture to find meaning and understanding. It is the individual who dedicates time and effort to seek God and a close relationship with Him. In fact, the Psalmist says that they who keep God’s word and seek God with their whole heart will be blessed by God. This blessing is not a pat on the head, or an at-a-boy, this is a blessing so rich and pure, we cannot contain it all, It is overflowing. To please God is to be in right relationship with Him and desiring to spend time with God. That comes with great reward.

Prayer:

Lord, we will not give You halfhearted effort, we will give You time, effort, deep searching of Your words in order that we can become wise with understanding. In Your name, Lord Jesus, we search for truth in You, amen.
