Compassion
Matthew 9:36 ESV
“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
I often wonder what Jesus sees when he sees us in America as a nation. I think He is looking at us and wondering why we allowed our nation to slip away from Christianity as a whole. A nation that believed in God, and served God well for a time, but we have allowed outside influences to distract us, to strip us of our God given rights of God in schools and even remove any form of God from civic places. I think He is looking into the future of America and seeing where we are heading. If we allow the current trend, this nation will be in further decline. A nation that, in part, has forgotten about God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A nation that has trashed our forefathers and heroes and forgotten our history. A nation where money has become the dominate force and community means very little. I think Jesus sees our potential if we get back to serving God as we were at one time, living our lives to please God and obeying His words in every facet of our lives. If we chose not to follow God as a nation, I think Jesus sees us as the Bible says, “sheep without a Shepherd.” He will still preserve the faithful, the remnant, He will still be our Lord, still our Savior and Deliverer, but if the nation as a whole does not turn back to Him, the nation will be as these people were, “sheep without a Shepherd.” God save America.
Prayer:
Lord, see us now as the remnant that can make a difference in this nation. Strengthen us, encourage us, revive us, lift us up from the mire that we have gotten ourselves into as a nation. Have compassion on us Lord. Lord, save us as a nation. In Your name we ask, Lord Jesus, amen!
