Blessed Be My Rock
Psalms 18:46, 49 NASB
“The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock; And exalted be the God of my salvation…”
“Therefore I will give thanks to You among the nations, Lord, And I will sing praises to Your name.”
In the 1960’s, Thomas J. J. Altizer, then a professor of religion at Emory University in Atlanta said, “We must realize that the death of God is an historical event, that God has died in our cosmos, in our history, in our [existence].” Altizer’s movement was cut short and his statements died.
Our God is very much alive and living among us as well as watching the cosmos in the heavens. David said that the Lord (Ruler of all things) lives. Therefore, He says that the God of our salvation is and should ever be exalted. God only seems to fade from the memories of those who have forgotten Him, those who have laid Him aside until He becomes more convenient for them.
As for us, we know our God is alive because we see Him every day in the beauty of nature and in His words. Every time we read his words, He becomes more prominent in our hearts and lives. Our God will be forever and forever!
Prayer:
You, Lord, are alive and well. You are our King, Lord, Master, and Savior. You are our rock and our salvation. We will sing Your praises among the nations and declare Your name on high. In Your name, Lord Jesus, Amen!
