The Goodness of Our God

James 1:17 ESV

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

I hear a lot of people say when things come to them, like an unexpected blessing, and they say, “I am so lucky.” Well. Luck has nothing to do with it. Luck is the religion of the lazy. What I mean by that is, luck is a chance, a coincidence, and counting on luck is like waiting for a bus that may or may not ever show up. Successes happens when people are diligent, and they plan, seek God, and wait for God to bring them good things.

James says that EVERY good gift and EVERY perfect gift is from above, from God’s mercy and goodness. God has plenty in store for us and He wants to give us good things, but mostly He wants us to believe, obey, submit and rely completely on Him. He wants an up close personal relationship with each and everyone of us. The person that does that will see good things come to them.

Prayer:

Lord, guide me, teach me, lead me in Your paths of righteousness. Help me to wait on You, rest in You, rely upon You. At the point where I can submit to Your will and obey You, You have a storehouse of blessings for me. So many blessings in fact that it would take a lifetime to receive all that You have for me and there would still be blessings left over. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
