Distinction Between Words and Actions
Luke 6:46-48 ESV
“Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.”
Jesus brings to light a spiritual truth; basically, how can we call ourselves Christians but not obey His teachings. It is not enough to be saved; we have to live the life that Jesus expects of us. After all, we are the light of the world because of Jesus. We are the salt of the earth in a world that has lost its flavor. We are not just part of a religion, or a movement, we are born again, blood bought, Bible believing, sold out souls of Jesus Christ. We are not trying to find the minimum requirements to get into heaven, we are looking for ways to be a reflection of Jesus to the world and especially to our circle of influence.
Jesus said the person that is sold out to Him is like a person that dug down deep and laid a solid foundation in Him. So when the torrents of life come, and they will come, and the storms beat on us, and they will come, we can stand in Jesus and know we shall not be moved (we will not crumble under the pressures and fall).
Prayer:
Lord, I build on You my Foundation and Salvation. I don’t want to just get by; I want to be who You designed me to be and to do all that You know I can do for You and Your Kingdom. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
