Luke 6:43-44 ESV
“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush.
I have a close friend that has a good job. I have encouraged him to stick with the job with the highs and the lows because it is a job with a promising future for him and his family. There is one thing about the job, his boss is demeaning. He has told me on numerous occasions the things his boss says to him, and they are totally unnecessary and uncalled for. The last time I spoke to him, I encouraged him to do his best, get the knowledge and experience and God will open the door to be able to do this work for another company, there are 80 such companies in Gainesville. My friend asked me why his boss would be like that, so I asked some inquisitive questions about his boss. When I received the answers, my assessment was this; that was his boss’s nature, he has a mentality that his employees are subordinates and not worthy of respect. He feels like if he can keep his employees fearing their jobs and fearing him, they will perform better. They call this style of leadership authoritarian leadership; employees will follow, but only because they have to not because they want to. I told my friend, this was his boss’s true nature, to be rude and demeaning to make himself feel superior.
Hopefully our true nature produces the fruit that encourages, edifies, shows love and respect for others. Hopefully our good fruit comes naturally and is a part of our good character because we are connected to the true vine Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Lord, I pray that the fruit we produce is from the character that You created in us. Our job is not to be fruit inspectors but good fruit producers. Doing what we do for Your glory and honor. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
