God’s Fulfillment in His Son

Matthew 1:23 ESV

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (God is with us or God is among us).”

John 1:14 says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

What was the ultimate plan of God for mankind through the birth of His Son?

To redeem us, (buy us back).

Galatians 4:4-6 says, “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons (daughters). And because you are sons (daughters), God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

God sent His Son in our likeness, in flesh and blood, so that he could lead us back to God. He also came in flesh that He would be able to see, know and understand all that we go through in the flesh.

To reconcile us back to God.

Colossians 1:19, 20 says, “For in him all the fullness of time, God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile (bring us back to where we belong in right relationship) to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

To bring us into a right relationship with Himself.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

When we receive Jesus, He brings us back to a right relationship with God.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift that just keeps on giving, Your Son. He came to this earth as a baby, the way we did. He came to live as we do, to show He understands all that we are going through, yet without sin. He came to give His life for us so that we could be set free forever. He came back to life so we could live forever with You. Thank You Father God. Amen!
