The Spirit of the Lord
Isaiah 61:1 AMP
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed and commissioned me to bring good news to the humble and afflicted.”
When the Messiah came, He came in the Spirit of God, anointed by the Spirit of God to do certain works. We read in the gospels that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit. At His baptizing, the Holy Spirit came down like a dove to anoint Him.
He was lead in the wilderness by the Spirit of God, and after He defeated Satan’s temptations with the Word’s of God. Then, He was lead by the Spirit into Galilee. The Holy Spirit was at His beginning and the Spirit led Him all through His human life. Why is that so important? Because we can trust Him with anything and everything. He does not just appear on His own, He represents the Godhead, the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit as one.
This first verse of Isaiah 61 states that He was anointed, commissioned by God to bring us good news. This good news is not just a word on one occasion that will bring joy one time. This good news is supplied when ever we need it, and when we do not know we need it. His good news is perpetual, never ending and never changing.
He has the right answer for every citation, every need and every care, He possess that ability. The Messiah doesn’t discriminate, He gives good news of great joy to all people. To those who are humble enough to receive a baby born, this promised Messiah, laid in a manger, He will be their King, their Savior, their Healer, their friend.
Prayer:
Father, before I ever knew what I needed, You gave Your Son, knowing I needed a Savior and Redeemer, Healer. Thank You for the greatest Gift this season! A gift, that will never fade, never let me down, and never fail me.
