Involved in Creating a Miracle

2 Kings 4:1-4 NKJV
A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.” So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”

Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few.  And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”

This widow women didn’t know the end results, maybe she wanted the prophet to instantaneously create money to pay the debt. She had to make a choice to do what the prophet said or just do what it took to get by. She was actually in control of her destiny.

She went and borrowed as many vessels as she could. Went inside, closed the door and began pouring the oil until the last vessel was filled. She asked for more vessels but there were no more. The results? She paid her debts and her fears were gone. I believe she was joyful, satisfied and thankful to God.

We all want things to turn around instantaneously when things are bad, but often I see God taking us through processes. Why? We learn more when we go through a process. We are thankful longer when we are involved in the solution.

Don’t get me wrong, instant relief and miracles are great, but we appreciate things more when God works through our faith. Ask and keep asking, listen and keep listening and do what He says to the letter! He will make a way, an opportunity, a blessing, a miracle that stretches our faith.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for making a way, sometimes in ways I don’t understand but I’m going to trust You that it will all work out and You will receive the Praise.
