He is as Sure as the Dawn!

Hose 6:3 ESV
“Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; His going out is sure as the dawn; He will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”

This message was for Israel after much rebellion against following God and His ways. The prophet pleads for them to return to God because if they will return, He will show mercy, but they do not immediately turn back.

God pronounced judgment on them for turning away from Him and following after god’s of wood and stone. Listen to what the prophet says: “Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord…” Basically all Israel had to do was turn around, God was right there.

All they had to do was really understand Him and His ways. To get to know His character and His love. What did they get out of a dumb idle? What could they see in a god of wood or stone? The prophet continues: “His going out is sure as the dawn…” in other words, you can count on God, He is faithful and sure as the sun rising in the east, like clockwork!

He is faithful and refreshing, “as the spring rains that water the earth.” How can anyone leave God to follow their own appetites, their own selfish desires and follow after foolishness that only satisfies for a moment. Unfortunately it happens everyday, not just with sinners, but with the ones who have reason to love Him the most.

Prayer:
Father forgive me because sometimes I don’t know I’m turning away from you but it happens gradually. When You remind me who You are, I feel so foolish, so lost. Thank You Father for caring for me so much, You do come to me as the dawn and the spring rain and I remember the height that I have fallen from and I come crawling back to You! Thank You for Your love and Your mercy and Your grace!
