The State of Forgiveness

Luke 6:37 ESV

“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven…”

I can almost hear Jesus saying, “if you don’t want people to judge you, then stop judging them. If you don’t want people to determine your future because of what they think of you, then don’t condemn them because of who you think they are. If you want God to forgive everything that you have done, all that you are doing now and the things that you will do in the future, then be that forgiving to someone else.”

After all, we are citizens of God’s Kingdom, living under His guidelines, and representing Him to those that we are judging and condemning. How do people see God in us? Do they see the God of love, mercy and grace that we see? Do they see this amazing God through our words, deeds, actions and judgments, or do they see a different form of God?

Prayer:

Lord, purify me to be a temple of the Holy Spirit. Cleanse me and wash me clean, so that my reflection of You shows the world that same Lord and Savior that I see. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
