The Holy Spirit

Acts 1:4-5 AMP

“While being together and eating with them (the disciples), He (Jesus) commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Of which,” He said, “you have heard Me speak. For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized and empowered and united with the Holy Spirit, not long from now.”

Jesus commanded the disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit. Understand in this waiting, they could go about business as usual as long as stayed in Jerusalem and they met together everyday for praise, worship and prayer. I don’t believe the disciples knew what to expect with the Holy Spirit baptism. As the disciples and others, a group of 120 or more, waited, I’m sure there we constant prayers going up, songs being sung, and accounts being told of encounters with Jesus. The amplified version says that Jesus called this a baptism of the Holy Spirit or roughly translated an immersion of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gave no other accounts of this baptism so, expectations were open. Immersion of the Holy Spirit is what fueled the Gospel after the resurrection of Jesus. Understand, this immersion will be for power to know, understand, and articulate fluently the Gospel of Christ. Healings would come from the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus. Immense power would come from the same Holy Spirit. So, this was an event to be waiting for, because it promised to turn the world upside down for Jesus, as it has for two thousand years now.

Lord, I pray through dedication, confession and seeking Your face, that everyone that is reading this account would be immersed in the Holy Spirit, to do great things for You. In Your name, Lord Jesus, I ask, amen.
