Everlasting Joy

Isaiah 61:7 ESV

“Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.”

The previous verse up to this verse speaks of what happens to those who find the Lord’s favor. Even in times that are tough, the Lord seeks us out, He knows what we are going through. In the favor of the Lord their will be no lack, but instead there will be a double portion of blessings. When we think that no one cares and no one knows what we are going through, the Master does and He brings us into times of rejoicing. In times when things seem too hard and we struggle to survive He provides a double portion of His favor, if we will trust in Him. What is the results in the Lord’s favor? Everlasting joy, not just happiness, but a true joy that never fades away.

Prayer:

Lord, You have asked us to trust You and when we do trust You completely, You will deliver us. Your word says that perfect love casts out all fear, because You will deliver us. Today, Lord, surround us with Your love and favor. Bring us into times of plenty but most of all bring us into everlasting joy. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
