More Love, More Obedience

John 14:23-24a ESV

“Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words…”

A disciple asked Jesus why He was going to manifest Himself to the disciples but not to the rest of the world. Jesus did not refuse the Gospel to anyone. In fact, the Gospel was open to everyone but not everyone would believe. Jesus said to the disciple “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word(s)…Whoever does not love me does not keep my words…” Or we can say those who do not keep the Lord’s words, does not love Jesus. Furthermore, to us who do believe, the Father and the Son come in and set up camp in our lives, in our homes, with our families and they stay there, they will never move out, they will never leave us as orphans (John 14:18).

Prayer:

Lord, keeping Your words in our hearts and on our minds, keeps us from sin according to Psalms 119:11, “I have hidden Your word(s) in my heart that I might not sin against You.” When we obey, we show how much we love You, when we do not obey, that shows that the love has grown cold. Never let the love in us fade, but fan the flames that our hearts will rekindle the love for you ever more, every day. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
