Seek His Presence

1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV

“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!”

This passage is within a song that David sang as the Ark of the Covenant was returned to Jerusalem. It offers insight for our everyday life.

Seeking God means that we have put aside trying to figure things out on our own. Instead of exhausting ourselves trying to work out problems or needing deliverance from things, we stop all the striving and we seek God. After all, God sees the big picture, we only see the moment.

We seek God’s strength, because of our human frailty. We admit when we are weak and we seek God’s strength to carry us through the difficult situations. Even in the times when things are going well, we should seek God’s strength to get us in the frame of mind that God is our sufficiency.

It is always amazing being in the presence of God. I have a dear saint friend that says to me always, “I just love the presence of the Lord.” The good news is we can be in the presence of the Lord anywhere and anytime. It could be in our devotion time, or it could be when we are going down the road in a vehicle listening to some good praise and worship music. It could be in a congregation of believers, or my favorite time, is when I am studying the scriptures.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for Your strength. Thank You that I can rely on You knowing full well I cannot rely on myself. Thank You for Your strength that always sees me through every situation. Thank You for Your presence, Lord in my quiet times and in the assembly of the saints. In Your name, Lord Jesus, I praise You, Amen!
