Cycle of Love
John 14:21 ESV
“Whoever has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
The prerequisite to this verse is our motivation to obey Jesus is driven by our love. When we obey Him, it shows that we love Him genuinely.
“…will be loved by My Father…”: The Father’s love for us who love Jesus.
“…and I will love him…”: Jesus’s love for us who love him, a love that is personal and relational.
“…and manifest Myself to him.”: This is the promise of revelation, where Jesus will make His presence known to those who love Him. He will also give anointing, special revelations and He will reveal Himself to us in various was that will bring glory to God.
Essentially, the verse describes the love and relationship that we desire with Jesus and the Father. When someone loves Jesus, they experience the Father’s love and Jesus’s love, and Jesus, in turn, reveals himself to them, showing his presence in various ways. This revelation knowledge that we receive in this proper relationship, this is what keeps us alive, active, motivated, seeing more of Him in His words. This is our drive and motivation to show Him our love deeper each day.
Prayer:
Lord, when we ask for more of You, this verse comes to mind. If we love You, we will obey You. If we obey You, our relationship with You and the Father grows deeper. If we love You and the Father more deeply, then You will manifest Yourself to us in ways that we have never experienced before. We want that Lord! In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
