Do Not Say

Jeremiah 1:6-7 ESV

“Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth. But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.”

Jeremiah had an excuse, but it wasn’t a good excuse, he was probably around twenty-five when God called him. Jeremiah stated that he wasn’t a speaker, he wasn’t a writer, he was too young.  Excuses, excuses. I love what God said to Jeremiah, “Do not say I am only a youth.” When God calls, He also has already empowered. Who God calls; He has already anointed.

We have been called by God when we came to know Jesus as our Savior. We may feel inadequate to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, but when we are put into a situation where someone needs to hear the truth, God empowers us to open our mouth and tell what Jesus did for us. We can get on the computer and send a message of prayer and hope to someone. We may get on our phone and call, or text. This is the greatest time in history of spreading the Gospel, we have so many ways to win souls to Jesus Christ, so many avenues of communication.

DO NOT SAY that you are too old, too young, you can’t speak well, you don’t know what to say, or you’re too scared. God knows you better than you know yourself.

Prayer:

Lord, You empowered us and anointed us when You called us to the cross. Open our mouths, use our voice, use us to type, to write, to message, to text, to email, whatever it takes to spread the Gospel. Whatever it takes to lift someone from despair, whatever it takes to stand in the gap for someone. In Your name, Lord Jesus, use us for Your glory, Amen!
