Let’s Go

Mark 4:35-36 ESV

“On that day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”  And leaving the crowd, they took Him with them in the boat, just as He was. And other boats were with Him.”

Jesus had just taught some powerful and amazing teachings to the crowds and to His disciples. Instead of getting out of the boat, He told His disciples to launch out into the deep waters because He must go to the other side of the lake. This lake is very large and susceptible to storms because of the winds coming through the valley pass through the mountains.  He said these words specifically, “Let us go across to the other side.” It was not just an intent, it was His words and He meant what He said, they were going to cross over the lake. He did not go back to the house where He was staying, nor did He allow the disciples to go get provisions. There was going to be an occurrence and He knew it, even if the disciples were unsuspecting. A lesson for the disciples was in the making. First, trust His words, and second, trust the Lord to provide. After this moment a storm did arise, and it caught all the men off guard.

The lesson, pay attention to what Jesus has said in His words and trust Him no matter what happens. Trust Him to provide even if we do not know where the provisions are coming from.

Prayer:

Lord, some lessons do not make sense up front, but if we will walk with You and trust Your words, You will see us through and we will be the better after the lesson is over. In Your name Lord Jesus in You we trust, Amen!
