Exactly What We Need

Psalms 114:7-8 ESV

“Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.”

The Psalmist is asking that the earth would tremble before God, but not out of fear, but out of resounding awe at the majesty of our God who always provides exactly what we need.

Israel wondered in the desert looking for streams and pools of water so they could relieve their thirst. God instead brought water from a rock. If He would have brought it from the earths floor, someone would try to explain the miracle away as a natural occurance, but God brought water out of a rock. So much water that it served two million people and their flocks and herds. That’s our God, El Shaddai–the God of more than enough.

Sure, we want and desire at times, but if we remember the times God brought us through the hard times, the rough patches in our lives, we will remember, He is and was the God of more than enough. He is El Shaddai.

Prayer:

Lord, I remember so many times in my lifetime when you provided not just things, but you brought people in my life to strengthen me, uplift me and open doors for me. I am so very thankful for You this morning Lord, You are my El Shaddai. In Your name, Lord Jesus, I pray, amen!
