The Next Generation

Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Moses spoke to the next generation of Israelites that were heading into the promised land. They had seen their parents and grandparents fail at following the Lord, now just like a fresh wind, this generation was going to do what their parents did not do, follow God. I know this generation was not perfect at it, but they went in with the right mind set. Moses told them to be strong and courageous, because that was what it took for them to fight, conquer and take the land that was rightfully theirs. Moses told them not to fear or be in dread of the people of the land, the giants and the fortified cities, because that was what kept their parents from going into the promised land. Moses told them that the Lord will be with them and He surely was with them.

Today, to reach the world with the Gospel, we have to be strong and courageous. We cannot fear what people say about us or what they may say to us. The Lord is going before us to prepare hearts and lives of people that will hear and accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. Not everyone will receive, but we must keep moving as the Israelites did throughout the land. We have to press on with the Gospel, some will, and some will not receive, that is between them and God. Keep moving forward with the Gospel. Don’t wait for the church to do it, don’t wait for the Evangelists to do it, don’t wait for the pastor to do it. Each of us has been given a voice and the opportunities to spread the Gospel.

Prayer:

Lord, use us and do not let us come up with excuses why we cannot. Young, old, male, female prepare hearts to be open to the Gospel. I pray that as we witness and testify of Your love and grace that people will not even let us finish our speech before they ask, “What must I do to be saved”. In Your name, Lord Jesus, give us boldness to speak in Your name. Amen!
