Broken Down Walls

Ephesians 2:14-15 NLT

“For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people (All of God’s Children that have received Jesus Christ as Savior) from the two groups.”

Paul wrote this letter to the church in Ephesus, addressing both Jewish and Gentile believers. The “two groups” refer to Jews and Gentiles (anyone who was not a Jew), who were historically divided by cultural, religious, and ceremonial laws. The Jewish Christians wanted to keep the two groups separated, Jewish Christians and Jewish Gentiles. The Gentile Christians wanted all the rights and privileges of being God’s children, as the Jewish Christians.

Through His death on the cross, Jesus abolished the enmity that the law and its regulations had created, reconciling both groups into a single body of believers, all are God’s children that have received Jesus as Savior and Lord. These verses highlight Christ’s role as the ultimate peacemaker, breaking down barriers and creating a unified community of faith, demonstrating God’s grace and the transformative power of His love.

“He is my peace, who has broken down every wall…”

Prayer:

Lord, You tore down the walls that separated us  from all of your blessings so that we are now God’s Children with all the rights and privileges of being Your chosen people. You are our peace. Thank You, Jesus, Amen!
