The Lord is My Light
Psalms 18:28 NASB
“For You light my lamp; The Lord my God illumines my darkness.”
When I was nineteen and twenty years old, I went through one of the most intense spiritual experiences of my life. Then, in my early to mid-twenties, I allowed darkness to cloud my thoughts and my sense of reasoning. Spiritually, I was in darkness, trying to find the light. I knew God, but I was in a dark place in my life. It took me a few years to climb out of the place where I was, but by His grace, I did find my way back to the light. I can relate to David when he said, “The Lord my God illumines my darkness.” Illumination in the biblical sense refers to the act of enlightening or providing spiritual insight and understanding. Without God’s revelations, we are destined for mediocrity and darkness.
Prayer:
Lord, lighten my pathways. Open my eyes so I can see Your hand moving in my life. Enlighten my heart, mind, and Spirit to Your truths, Your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the deep things of God. Without those truths, I’m destined to settle for mediocrity. I cry out for Your insights, Precious Savior, Amen!
