Drawing Close to God

James 4:8a

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

Drawing closer to God is actively pursuing an intimate, and obedient relationship with Him. We received His forgiveness of sins in our lives, and we accept His free gift of becoming children of God. We then forgive others and ourselves for past mistakes.  The closer that we get to God, the more that we see areas that we have not released to Him, areas of compromise, justifying ourselves and our actions and deeds. Then we cast these things off and we begin to see His cleansing work in our lives, and we begin to love Him more and we trust Him more. This coming closer to God initiates a response from God so that He draws us even closer to Him. Then, our lives begin to change and we are in a closer relationship with Him, and we know Him and commit all of our ways to Him. This process happens over and over again throughout our whole lives.

Prayer:

Lord, heal me and I will be healed. Cleanse me and I will be cleansed. Revive me and I will become alive in You. Each step that I take, every move that I make let it be because of Your presence within me. All I have is Yours, I need You Lord more each day. In Your name Lord Jesus walk with me, Amen!
