Mindful of Jesus

Isaiah 26:3 (ESV)
“You keep him (or her) in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he (or she) trusts in You.”

We seek perfect peace. Not lack of war, even though we do want that as well, but the peace that we are looking for is stillness of the storms of this life. The things that hinder us and our family. The things that cause us to strive, worry and fear. The things that drive us daily to survive and more than survive, to get ahead so that we can relax. This life is not for the faint of heart, but the way to navigate this life is only through Jesus. A mind that is stayed on the Lord is the mind that wakes up and before the day begins, they begin to praise the Lord. Before they plan the first activity, they seek God wisdom first.

I stepped out this morning and took the garbage can up to the entrance of our neighborhood, up to the hard road. I thought as I was heading up the dusty road, “what lies ahead at the top of the hill this morning?” No one knows but God. It could be anything or it could be nothing, we call that a 50/50 chance. I’ll take my chance by trusting God, yes even for menial tasks, because I have no idea what lies ahead, but He does. If I want peace for the hard times, I keep my mind stayed on Him in the easy times and the hard times. I trust Him for the basic tasks and the difficult tasks, that brings perfect peace.

Prayer:

Lord, I have no idea what today holds, but You do. Lead me in the way that I should go, guard me, my wife, my family and my friends from the factors of this life. You see our day ahead, direct our paths, show us when to forge ahead, and show us when to have caution. Teach us at times today to be still and wait on You, for only You know the outcome of today, we trust in You Lord, Amen!
