Still the Mind

Isaiah 26:3

“You keep him (her) in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he (she) trusts in You.”

If anyone suffers with an overactive mind I completely understand. That battle has been a lifetime experience. From my own inadequacies as a child to a runaway mind as an adult, I have sought the Lord on a daily basis to still my mind in Him. To do that has taken meditation on His words, prayer, and a whole lot of memorizations of scriptures.

Isaiah made this statement, with the prompting of the Lord, for people like me. Perfect peace is not the absence of war or conflict, but the presence of the Master. Perfect peace can only come through Jesus Christ. The world may experience peace from time to time, but that’s just an absence of conflict. To attain to perfect peace takes trust in Jesus. Perfect peace says to let go of control of our own minds and trust our hearts and minds to Jesus, anything else is striving on our own. If we are looking for perfect peace, then trust in Jesus is where we begin, daily!

Prayer:

Lord, this morning we give our hearts and minds to You, because You know exactly how to still the mind and calm the heart. Trusting You is letting go of the control of our own minds and thoughts and watching You work miracles in us. Perfect peace is only found in Your arms. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
