Just Like the First Time
Colossians 2:6-7 ESV
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
In this passage you can see the passion of Paul. He says, “…as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him…” Paul has always contended that salvation is not just a one-time experience but a lifetime experience that should carry us from grace to grace and from believing faith to extreme faith, or miraculous faith. If I were to tell you to wake up each morning and remember what it was like to be saved, the experience that you had when you gave your heart to the Lord, you may think I had lost my mind. But Paul is saying something similar, “…as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith (or ever growing in the faith)…” Then Paul says, “abounding in thanksgiving.” Being thankful but not just thanks, this is abounding in thanksgiving, abounding in giving thanks to God for what He has done for you and I by giving us His Son by which we were saved.
Prayer:
Thank You Father, for the gift of life through Your Son. Thank You for saving me, thank You for helping me to walk out my salvation with (holy) fear and trembling or a deep sense of gratitude for Your greatness. Even at the age of eleven, I knew that something had changed in my life. In Your name Lord Jesus, I give You praise, Amen!
