Trusting in God’s Words

Psalms 119:41-42

“Let your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, Your salvation according to your promise; then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word.”

The Psalmist calls out to God from a heart that needs deliverance. The Palmist asks for God’s steadfast love because he is feeling vulnerable to his adversaries who is taunting him. The devil, taunts us because we stand on God’s promises. He says that it is foolishness to trust in God. He taunts that we are clinging to a hope that is not real, when in fact, we know God is real and mighty to save. So, the Psalmist is asking for salvation, not an act of believing one time, but as a continual need that every day we need to be saved from something or someone. Upon this salvation we receive strength to answer the enemy and put him underneath our feet.

Prayer:

O Lord, I need You every hour. I put my trust in You. Our hope and confidence is in You. In Your name, Lord Jesus, my Savior and my God I rest in you, amen.
