The Priestly Blessing

Numbers 6:22-26 ESV

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

This was what God commanded Moses to give to the priests to bless the Israelites. In this blessing You will see three sections; Notice each section says that this blessing is coming from the Almighty God

(1) The Lord bless (prosper all that you do) and keep you (protect you in every way, mind, soul, spirit and body);

(2) The Lord make His face shine (His glory shines on us and makes us radiant as He did with Moses in the wilderness on the mountain. This radiance isn’t for us to be seen as ourselves, but it is to be seen as one who has been in the presence of God.) on you and be gracious (God’s grace covers all of our sins because of His Son’s sacrifice. This grace is an extension of His mercy to us when we need it.) to you.

(3) The Lord turns his face toward you (When God turns His face toward us, He requires holiness. It is also a sign of favor. We want that favor in our lives because what comes with it is blessings from God) and give you peace (This peace is not an absence of conflict or trouble; it is so much more. It is a blessing that no matter what we are going through, He will bring us to rest and fulfillment).”

Prayer:

Lord, we receive from You today Your blessings, your provisions, Your words of life. Thank You for being our protector, our strong tower. Thank You for You glory that fills our hearts and lives, so much that it shines through us wherever we go. Thank You for Your forgiveness and grace. Thank You for You ever increasing favor in our lives. Thank You Lord for the peace that only You can give. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
