Thinking About What We Hear
Proverbs 14:15 NLT
“Only simpletons believe everything they’re told! The prudent carefully consider their steps.”
I have found that in this life, we cannot believe everything that we are told, but every information given to us needs to be weighed in the scales of truth. Whether it is simple matters or complex matters, information can be skewed by the people delivering that information.
The more I stay in God’s word, the more I see unbalanced scales of information from the world. God’s word is truth, and all His words are life and health. What I hear from the world has to be weighed against God’s word. Every information that comes to me needs to go through a filter, that filter is the wisdom of God through the Wolrd of God.
Sometimes even our own thoughts need to be weighed in the balance. How did we get the thoughts in our head? Most of the time those thoughts come from what we hear others say and they influence us. Is what we hear from outside sources the truth or a lie? I’m not always sure, so I go to God and ask, and I seek His word and the wisdom of His word.
Prayer:
Lord, what we hear today, let us weigh those words on the balance of truth or a lie. If we find that the things we hear are questionable, then draw us to seek the truth and question the source. In an unbalanced world, You are the only source that we have to help us know between the truth and a lie. We trust in You, Amen!
