The Saving Power of God

Psalms 50:23 AMP

“He who offers a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who orders his way rightly [who follows the way that I show him], I shall show the salvation of God.”

Two things the Lord requires in this small passage.

1. Offer a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to God, one that will honor Him. It may be a moment where we meditate on God’s goodness and mercies, or we may sing Him a song (it doesn’t matter what we sound like as long as it is sung to Him to honor Him). We may stand up and stretch out our arms to praise Him. Maybe we tell someone of the goodness of our God. It may be that we play a musical instrument in praise to Him. Honor Him, love Him, praise Him, Thank Him for all that He has done.

2. Walk in His way. Go about our day with a time for devotion first. Then, when we plan our  day, plan to listen to His voice inside that He can divert our path at times to lift  someone up, send a text of love, just a phone call to tell someone that God loves them. Maybe a time to pay attention to someone that needs the attention and concern. God did that a lot with me while I was working, someone always needed a bit of my attention. People just need to know that we care and that they are important.

Then David says, God will show us His salvation. This salvation is not just when we first believed, it is an action that takes place every minute of every day of our lives. He draws our spirit to Him continuously, He leads us out of danger, and He protects us from trouble. He gives wisdom for every area of our lives, wisdom to follow Him, wisdom for relationships, wisdom for our finances, wisdom of how to deal with our boss or fellow coworkers. Oh yes God is working His salvation in us constantly.

Prayer:

Lord, I praise You just because of who You are. You are the Almighty, yet You are a friend that is closer than a brother or sister. Thank You for caring about me, thank You for seeking me out. Thank You for Your hand of love mercy and grace. Thank You for saving me from me, sometimes I stumble, and You are right there by my side to take my hand. Thank You for loving me so much that You died for my sins and now You are saving me every day. Thank You Lord, Amen!
