The Gospel
Matthew 4:23 ESV
“And He went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.”
The word gospel is close to the Anglo-Saxon term god-spell, meaning “good story,” or “good news.”
The good news for us is that Jesus Christ came to earth and showed us the Father in a fresh new light. He is the God of love and forgiveness, then He died on the cross for our sins, and brought us into a right relationship with God.
No longer separated from God but now in a forever relationship with God. That is great news! God loves us so much that He would do whatever it took to bring us back to Him.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). That is the good news!
Prayer:
Father, thank you for loving us so much that You sent Your Son to us, to bring us good news, and to bring us back home to you! That is true love Father, Amen!
